Myotis leibii, small footed myotis

The small footed myotis is a bat. The range and distribution of this species is disjunct throughout the mid-west largely due to Its habitat requirements. The myotis will frequent pond edges and streams during the early evening hours while it hunts for insects. Following the evening hunt, this small bat seeks out man-made structures, tall trees, rocky outcrops, or holes in the sides of hills as suitable roosting places. Areas where all of these requirements are met tend to be discontinuous throughout the region.
