Some of Scotia's chalk buildings. The one on the left, in bad repair, was torn down. For over 50 years, Scotia's chalk mine shipped many carloads of chalk to Omaha to be processed. Several homes and these early buildings were built of chalk-rock, the remaining one is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
